Abstract

With the widespread installation of notebook PC cameras, branded vendors are extending the use of built-in cameras from the consumer to commercial notebook PC market. In 2012 the share of notebook PCs with built-in cameras is anticipated to reach around 91.3%, with the global market volume arriving at around 185.59 million units. However, the notebook PC camera market growth is subdued and price competition in the industry is intensifying, coupled with increasing low-price competition among notebook PCs, the profit margins of notebook PC cameras are narrowing as a result. In addition, with a tendency going for slimmer notebook PCs, how the height of notebook PC cameras can be reduced amid increasing demand for notebook PC cameras with high quality recording capabilities will pose new challenges for camera module manufacturers
